In today’s world of fast-food, TV dinners, and macaroni and cheese, it is important to be aware of your body and your weight. In America, obesity and poor health has never been at a higher peak than it is in today’s society. Many headlines have stated that ‘Obesity is on the Rise’; it is true. Some sources estimate that obesity affects 30% of American adults. This number is absolutely outrageous. More importantly, obesity is one of the leading factors of many serious diseases and conditions. It is important that you take control of your own destiny and know your own health.

The body mass index system was established by Quetelet, a Belgian, around the 1840s. This has been a prevailing system that easily compares height and weight of individuals across social and political boundaries. The BMI is calculated based upon weight and height of the individual. An acceptable value is between 18.5 and 25. Once your BMI reaches the 25 to 30 range, you are classified as ‘overweight’. A BMI over 30 is then classified as obese. With this knowledge, we know that 30% of Americans have a BMI of over 30. This is a serious risk to our society as a whole and to each individual that is obese.

For this reason, Escali Digital Scales recently released a new digital scale that tracks this important piece of information for you: the Escali BMI150R. Upon input of your height, this scale will tell you not only your weight but also your BMI. It is also a tracking scale; meaning that it will keep track of your change and progress as you go along in your diet. It will track up to 10 individuals per scale so that your entire family can see their progress and see if they are progressing or digressing.

The BMI150R also comes with a remote monitor that displays your data. It can be detached from the scale and placed anywhere where it is most convenient for you. I found it useful because to put somewhere near eye level so that I did not have to bend over to see my weight or BMI, or squint to pick out the smaller numbers. This is a very useful feature for those of us who have some sort of impaired eyesight. The remote functions through the infrared spectrum so it is safe to use.

This digital scale also has a very useful hold feature that allows you to set off of the scale and it will still display your weight. The product also comes ready to use. Simply take it out of the package and it is ready to go.

As to the design of the scale, it is built extremely well. Not only will it last (and it has a 5 year warranty), but it will also spark up your bathroom. It comes in a very nice tempered white glass composite. So it will go in just about any arrangement of bathroom and can be easily hid from view, or left to stand out and compliment your bathroom. It is extremely easy to clean as it is merely a flat surface (without grooves or bumps, etc) and will continue to be a brilliant white throughout its life.

Overall, I would recommend the BMI150R as a good solution that will enable you to know your weight and a better measure of your health, body mass index.

An essential part of anyone’s diet is the knowledge of a starting place and a way to gauge your progress. Many people use a traditional weight scale in order to determine if they are adequately meeting their goals. Others use the more time honored method of looking at yourself in the mirror; if you see what you like, then you are doing just fine. For those of us that need a more ‘measured’ or logical approach, technology has joined with appliance companies to give us the body fat scale.

A typical scale tells us how much we weigh, either in pounds or kilograms. A body fat scale is a modified, or enhanced, digital scale that not only tells us how much we weigh, but how much of our weight is fat. Honestly, this is the true determining factor in weight loss. Are we losing fat? Or are we just losing whatever weight we can get rid of? Now, it is great to lose weight, period. But it is even better to lose the right kind of weight. Therefore, it is important that we have the tools necessary to make our diet not only effective, but the best diet for us.

There are many different body fat scales out on the market today. One of my favorite scales is the Escali BFBW200. I actually bought this scale and have tested it out for you. There are several things that are very important in a body fat scale. First off, it must be accurate. Any kind of scale that is not accurate is not going to be of any importance to us. We need accuracy. Second, it must be consistent. Along with accuracy, we want our results to be consistent throughout its use. We don’t want it to be accurate some of the time, and then start telling us the wrong data, or only tell us the right weight 1 out of every 3 times.

Third, we need a scale that gives us a few options: weight, body fat percentage, and body water percentage are some of the most important. Fourth, we need a scale that we are not going to want to hide underneath the toilet. We want something that will look good and that we will not be afraid of showing off.

The Escali BFBW200 has several of these features and was adequate enough that I would recommend it. First off, it is fairly accurate when compared to other scales and also is fairly consistent. I was impressed that it not only offered fat percentage readings, but also body water composition. I thought this was important because we can also lose a lot of water weight (which is not really going to help us in our quest for overall health benefits). So, this scale tells us what we need to know in a very easy and understandable way. It is not confusing nor does it offer too many options that we are not going to end up using. Finally, this scale looks good. There is no going around it. It does not detract from a beautifully decorated bathroom, it only enhances it. It is designed in such a way as to compliment a modern-looking style. It might not be the best for a bathroom with a ‘farm theme.’ But it certainly does well in most other settings.

Just remember, if you need something to find your weight, try one of many digital scales.
One I definitely recommend, is the Escali Body Fat Scale.

So, the other day my wife was watching some sort of Martha Stewartish show on TV. They were doing something with the kitchen, then the dining room, and then the bathroom. And my wife was sitting on the couch, with a notebook in her lap, jotting down notes. Something caught my eye when they were surveying the bathroom.

I then got up and went into our bathroom and saw that it was sort of bland and did not inspire (I don’t know if a bathroom is really supposed to inspire or not?). And then my eye settled on our old spring weight scale; and I decided it might be time for a change to that old thing.

I have been standing on my bathroom scale for right around 10-15 years, and the old thing keeps telling me the same weight. So, I did a little research over the week end and decided that I need something new. I don’t want to be told just my weight, but if I am in decent shape or not. Now, a quick look in the mirror can tell me, roughly, if I am in shape; but I wanted something that I could use to gauge myself, something logical and quantitative.

During my investigation, I reaffirmed the belief that muscle weighs more than fat and that there was something called bioelectrical impedance that actually works. What bioelectrical impedance does is it sends a small amount of electricity throughout your body and measures resistance (in ohms probably). It then uses this information with a complex formulation that tells you a decent estimate of your body fat percentage and can even tell you your body water make-up. These devices are usually found in workout gyms, doctors’ offices, etc.

But in today’s electronically laden society, bioelectrical impedance has made an appearance (and can make an appearance) in homes throughout the nation. The most common and useful device employed bioelectric impedance is the body fat scale. This bathroom scale not only tells you your weight, but also your body fat and body water composition. It tells you all of this in the matter of a few seconds. A body fat scale is truly intuitive.

Digital scales have always had a huge importance in the commercial industry, but only fairly recently have digital scales’ useful ingenuity been taken in the homes of normal consumers. Not only can a digital scale weigh, it can also calculate calories, calculate volume based on weight, track your diet, and above all, tell you how healthy you are (through fat percentage). The beauty of the digital body fat scale is that it tells us more than what we expect.

I was so excited about a body fat scale that I told my wife and we bought one. Not only are they extremely useful, easy to use, and practical; but they also turn your bathroom from a sub-standard 70’s room, and pushes it into the 21st century. Every room in the house has electronic devices. And now the bathroom takes a huge leap with a bathroom scale that is not just something you stand on, but one of those high performance digital scales that tells you what you want to know: the body fat scale.

So, it has come to my attention that there is an epidemic of obesity going out there in the world. Well, I say to America, lets shape up!!!

It is very frustrating for their to be so much obesity. It is all in the way we eat and the fact that we don’t exercise enough!!!

So, when you want to eat that next donut — DON’T

When you want to take the elevator to the 3rd floor — DON’T

Even little things can really help us out. Do you know what the complications of obesity are????

- diabetes, corony problems, hyperglycemia, bad self image, loss of energy….. etc

So pretty much, if you want to die earlier, then please – go right ahead and be obese. I do realize that for most, this is not just a choice, but a life-change that needs to happen. I know that you don’t just choose to be obese and choose to not be obese — but that’s where it starts… with the desire.

With a desire we can do almost anything and we can lose weight and be more healthy….

Also, we need to be informed – not necessarily on a consistent basis… but we do need to be reminded or our weight – but not only our weight – but a better indicator of our health – our body fat percentage.

There are several ways you can find this out: the most reliable being to go into a health professional and get it checked with a body caliper. Another way is to get one of those hand-held devices.

My personal favorite is a body fat scale. That way you can check your weight and also your body fat at the same time…. these are not too expensive and also you can keep yourself up to date on your progress. (more convenient and private than the doctor’s office).

There is a great model out at the following web address that I found: http://www.digitalscaledepot.com/bodyfat.html

Thanks – and get in shape!

Ever stood on a scale and seen some arbitrary number that could either make you incredibly depressed on extremely happy. Isn’t it funny how a little number can make our day or ruin it?

Sad. Well that is the society that we live in today. But at least now we have one of several digital scales that tells us something useful.

Instead of just telling us this random number associated with our body – it tells our body fat percentage. I like to refer to this as our ‘health’. Well, it really isn’t our health but is an indicator of it.

A body fat scale is a wise scale to get because you might gain a few pounds of muscle – and wouldn’t even know it if you didn’t know your body fat percentage. Gaining weight isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

And just remember – its how you feel that is important. So, instead of just standing and praying on the scale: get a scale that actually means something and enjoy life.

The dawn of this century has brought many new technological advances and wonders. The 21st century has been highlighted by some of the greatest discoveries and inventions of all time. I remember back when computers were first introduced into society and people joked about the future, about having a computer that didn’t fill the room, but that could fit on your wristwatch. Funny as it seemed then, it has now become all but a reality.

Many of these great technological advances are only useful for those involved in rocket science, but there are many that have use for the every day member of society. One of these advances that can benefit all of us is the invention of digital scales. These simple, yet useful, pieces of equipment could have vast importance to almost everyone.

The United States has been the pun of many jokes including those geared towards obesity. A very simple digital scale has been invented that has compiled a complex procedure into the simple act of standing. The body fat scale is a device which not only tells your weight, but the percentage of your body mass that is fat. Our society is focused so much on weight, that many of us forget the importance of health instead of weight. The body fat scale is a great piece of machinery that can help the average America to know their actual health, not only their weight. Previous to these newer and more accurate body fat scales, you had to go to the doctor or a specialist who was trained in the use of calipers, etc. In years past, these digital scales were not highly accurate, but in the last few years, advanced in bioelectric impedance has allowed the average person to know their body fat percentage almost instantly.

Other digital scales have been developed that can calculate your body mass index. There are many bathroom scales that can tell you much more than just some arbitrary figure that really tells you nothing. There has been an enormous amount of hype surrounding the recent release of the Apple iPhone 3G. This amazing piece electronic can do about a million things and help you lead a more convenient life.

Digital scales are like the iPhone for your bathroom. A bathroom scale shouldn’t just be a bland, dirty slab of plastic. It should tell you much more about your body than just your weight, and it should definitely be sleek and stylish. In my opinion, for someone that is on a diet or simply trying to stay healthy, there is nothing more important than a highly accurate bathroom scale, especially a body fat scale.

I stopped worrying about my weight a few years ago. I am a very broad person and always felt like my weight was telling me that I was over-weight, bordering on obese. I discovered for myself that it isn’t about weight, but it is about health and how I felt about myself. I discovered the body fat scale and now use that as my focus on my health.

Stop focusing on your weight America! Take control of your health in an aggressive fashion. Worry about your health and how much energy you have. A body fat scale is a great way for you to focus on the right things about your diet.

If you’re as worried about your health more than you are about how you talk to people, maybe you should think about an iPhone for your bathroom.
